María Blanchard, the Most Important Female Painter of Cubism

Six Paintings. One concept

Maria Blanchard's personal story is so moving that we may forget that she was one of the members of Cubism that greatly enriched the movement (at least that is what the Cubists themselves consider).

Let's keep in mind that in the midst of one of the most significant avant-garde movements for modernity, in a world of artists with very little room for a woman, Maria was not only admitted into the group, but she also shared a studio with Diego Rivera and Juan Gris.

Rivera went so far as to suggest that Maria's paintings were the best cubist paintings after Picasso's. Now it's up to us to give her the place in our memories she deserves.
