Six Paintings. One Concept

Surrealists let the unconscious flow and painted automatically, without reasoning, objects and absurd, oneiric scenes, like dreams. Some decades later, Abstract Expressionists let the unconscious flow too, but with abstraction and some fundamental techniques: with gestural brushstroke —a brushstroke that accordingly to how it is applied transmits what the artist feels, for example, desperation, anger, anguish—, by throwing or dripping paint on the canvas, or by creating color zones that transmit and generate emotional experiences, “mystical” moments.
There is also a technical aspect that is key: in order to communicate those emotions, to achieve the desired effect, the artist needs to work in big sizes. That is why we have chosen images where the audience can be seen, to perceive the scale.
