Fundamental Painters of The Bridge (Die Brücke)

 

This is the list of the most representative painters of The Bridge. The group was created in 1905 and dissolved in 1913. It was one of the first avant-garde movements of the 20th century and a perfect example of what "Expressionism" means: the subjective representation of reality, the transmission of the artist's moods and feelings through vibrant colors, emotive distortion, and gestural brushstrokes. 1877-1968. Kees van Dongen. Fauvist painter who also participated in the group (more information)

1880-1938. Ernst Ludwig Kirchner

1880-1966. Fritz Bleyl. One of the founders, graphic designer of the group..

1881-1955. Max Pechstein

1883-1970. Erich Heckel

1884-1976. Karl Schmidt-Rottluff
