Women of the Impressionism
Six Paintings. One Concept

When we think of the Impressionist painting, we usually omit female painters. Nevertheless, there were four important women, who participated in several exhibitions. A considerable number, if we bear in mind that a female painter was considered marginal. By the end of the 19th century, women were not yet admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts, and painting in public —something obviously indispensable to be able to paint outdoors, not just in the garden— was not considered acceptable. They were Berthe Morisot, Marie Bracquemond, Mary Cassatt and Eva Gonzalès.
