Rembrandt, Synonym of Chiaroscuro and Baroque
Six Paintings. One Concept

When we listen to or read the word "chiaroscuro," a Rembrandt appears in our mind. Because Rembrandt was a genius in the use of this emblematic resource of his time, the Baroque time.
Why emblematic? Because Baroque art is a violent clash of thematic, ideological, spiritual, and aesthetic contrasts. And the chiaroscuro is the clash of light and darkness to give volume, to highlight the points of highest tension in the scene, and to give a dramatic, theatrical atmosphere to the work. Nothing is more Baroque than that.
