The work of Renoir's impressionist stage (Renoir, unlike Monet or Sisley, left impressionism at one point) has a distinctive characteristic: his predilection for the human figure.
The ideal subject of Impressionism is the landscape, since it allows to work more spontaneously with the effects of light and atmospheric changes on things (precisely the obsession of the Impressionists).
However, the moments that Renoir captures are the favorites of the public, because they are moments in the lives of ordinary people, who enjoy them in a simple way. A calm and pleasant life, without drama. And for this reason, we associate him with joy.
