“I consciously choose the dog’s path through life. I shall be poor; I shall be a painter…”
Vincent Van Gogh.

Greek philosophers as Diogenes, who “lived as dogs” were the cynics (cynic derives from Greek and means dog-like). They considered that the way of life of our civilization is a bad thing and that happiness can only be reached through a simple life in agreement to nature. Thus the disregard for richness and any kind of material concern. The man with fewer needs is the more free and happier.

Vincent discovered that truth during his passionate existence.

He drew since he was young, but painted only during the last 8 years of his short life, leaving a huge work that would be a crucial influence for Expressionism and turned the painter in one of the greatest favorites of the audience of all the history.

There is no mystery in the universal admiration of his legacy: his work expresses pure sentiment and creative passion, excessive and sometimes painful sensitivity. It reflects the truth of the artist free from every prejudice and conditioning from society. The artist is dispossessed, naked, and alone with his emotions in intimate communion with nature.
